EU invests over €10bn in innovative clean technologies
The European Commission has announced an investment programme worth over €10 billion for low-carbon technologies in several sectors to boost their global competitiveness.
“We will need deployment of clean innovative technologies on an industrial scale”, said Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete. “We are today unleashing technological solutions in all Member States and pressing the fast-forward button in our transition to a modern and climate-neutral society in Europe.”
With resources amounting to €10 billion, the Innovation Fund is one of the world’s largest funding programmes for climate action, with innovative renewable energy generation being one of the core areas of investments. With the Innovation Fund EU aims to create the right financial incentives to invest now in the next generation of low-carbon technologies and to give EU companies a first-mover advantage to become global technology leaders.

Minesto links up with Antigua and Barbuda and United Nations Office for Project Services
This week, Minesto announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, to explore the potential deployment of Minesto’s marine energy technology Deep Green around Antigua and the wider Eastern Caribbean region. The collaboration will be facilitated by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

This followed Minesto’s participation in a workshop arranged by UNOPS during a hackathon that was held in Antigua in mid-February, focusing on solutions to build sustainable and resilient infrastructure for island communities. Invited by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and UNOPS, Minesto contributed to the discussions with the company’s expertise in ocean energy electricity generation and off-grid applications. The journey of Minesto’s Deep Green technology from idea to product was also used as a case story for inspiration.

Minesto features in The Times ”Future of Energy” report
Earlier this month a Future of Energy report that was published in The Times. The report covers the changing energy sector as the world needs to tackle climate change. One of the stories discuss the potential of ocean energy in the renewables mix in which Minesto and the company’s unique marine energy technology is highlighted.
