Minesto enters technology partnership with Schottel Hydro

Nordic marine energy leader Minesto (https://minesto.com/) has entered into a technology partnership with German tidal turbine manufacturer Schottel Hydro (http://www.schottel.de/schottel-hydro/). The objective is to supply Minesto with hydrokinetic turbine components in 2016 and 2017. ”This is a strategic technology partnership with one of the world leaders in underwater technology, ensuring the quality and performance of our marine power plant, Deep Green (https://minesto.com/deep-green/)”, said Minesto’s CEO, Anders Jansson.

Leading marine renewable energy company Minesto, has together with eight partners received EUR 5.1 million, to develop the Deep Green technology within a project named PowerKite. The project will be financed through EU Horizon 2020.EU has a strong ambition to develop the field of marine energy and has quadrupled its budget over the next four years. To utilize the oceans is something that also has been prioritized at the climate meeting in Paris, COP21 (http://www.cop21.gouv.fr/), in programs such as (http://www.cop21.gouv.fr/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/progEGC-EN-version-26.11.2015.pdf) ”Energy and water: a nexus for development and adaptation to climate change” and ”Ocean solutions for our climate: mitigation through marine innovation”.

UK and Wales strengthen position as global leaders in marine renewable energy:
